Breach and Clear — September 3, 20266 changes

The Rust Breach and Clear patch notes cover September’s monthly force-wipe update, taxing large-clan bases with group-scaled Tool Cupboard upkeep while giving solo and small-team players new ways to gear up and counter vehicles. Track the live Rust wipe countdown to the next force wipe.

TL;DR — 6 changes: 0 buffs, 1 nerf. Biggest addition: group-scaled Tool Cupboard upkeep that taxes large clans. Biggest nerf: bases sharing a Tool Cupboard (directly or via code locks) with 11+ players now pay meaningfully more upkeep. Meta impact: oversized clan mega-bases get costlier to maintain while HQM nodes and the new handbrake give smaller groups more ways to gear up and outmaneuver them.

Base Building

  • Tool Cupboard upkeep — now scales with authorized player count (including players on code locks tied to the TC): the first 4 players add 0%, the next 6 add 2% each, and every player after that adds 4% each nerf
  • Monument Blockers — new destructible barriers placed near Red Keycard rooms to slow progression; can be cleared with explosives active

Resources

  • HQM ore nodes and collectibles — new rare spawns added across the map, separate from existing stone/metal/sulfur deposits active
  • Honey Bandage — new Tier 1 healing item that restores health instantly, heals over time, and reduces bleeding active

Mechanics

  • Modular cars — new handbrake (hold Ctrl while braking) locks the rear wheels for drifting, with tire and steering behavior adjusted to hold drifts at higher speed active
  • Attack Helicopter — armor is now breakable under sustained fire instead of static active
