Season 3 closes out the 2026 ranked year and launched League of Legends Classic. Its first Battle Pass, the Act 1 pass (1,650 RP for the premium track), stops counting progress on October 5, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT, earlier than the season itself, so finish its rewards before then.
Riot has not given 2026 Season 3 a theme name; it is framed as a celebration of League's past and present, and it launched with Patch 26.15.
The headline is League of Legends Classic, a permanent mode that recreates Season 3-era Summoner's Rift with pre-rework champion kits, the old runes and masteries and classic items such as Heart of Gold. It launched with 60 champions: the original 40 plus 20 released between 2009 and 2013.
Classic has its own progression. Classic Levels are a one-time account-style track, and reaching Classic Level 10 opens the Summoner's Journey, a skill rating from Salt to Legend that works like ranked without a separate queue. A free League Classic Progression Track and a League Classic Pass with free and paid rewards sit alongside it.
Patch 26.15 reworked Bel'Veth to move her power away from early invades and toward late-game scaling, including permanent True Form at 80 Lavender stacks. Locke, Mordekaiser, Riven, Naafiri and Sylas were the main nerfs; Alistar, Kai'Sa, Maokai, Volibear and Zac were buffed.
The Season 3: Act 1 pass has 56 milestones and a premium track priced at 1,650 RP, topped by Prestige Magma Chamber Veigar at level 48. Ranked Season 3 opened at 12:00 local server time on July 29.
The Season 3 Victorious skin, ranked border and split icons are tied to ranked play during this split and to your Honor Level: accounts below Honor Level 3, or carrying an active chat restriction or ban when the split closes, lose the rewards. The in-client progression track shows exactly how far you are from qualifying. Riot usually reveals the Victorious champion a few weeks before the close and delivers rewards automatically afterwards.
Season 3 is the last split of the 2026 ranked year, so the change to 2027 is the once-a-year full reset with placements. Your peak in Season 3 is what the 2026 borders and rewards remember.
The Act 1 pass stops tracking progress on October 6, 2026, well before the split ends, so it is the more urgent deadline. Tiers you have not reached by then cannot be earned later. The League Classic Pass and other event passes run on their own timers.
Riot has not announced the first season of 2027 by name or date. Based on recent years, the new ranked year starts with a January patch that brings the full rank reset, a new theme and a new pass. Before that, a Season 3 Act 2 battle pass is expected in October, and the 2026 World Championship runs in the United States from October 15 to November 14. Riot usually confirms season dates in its patch schedule and in the dev update published before the new year.
