What's New in Season 2: Nightfall
Season 2: Nightfall arrived on June 2, 2026 as update 1.1.0, the largest patch Marathon had received since launch, and it opened with a full progression wipe.
Sentinel and Night Marsh
Sentinel is the new Runner shell, built to hold ground. Its Prime ability, Defender System, deploys an automated laser platform that shoots down incoming grenades and missiles and improves weapon handling for nearby crewmates.
Night Marsh is a night-time version of Dire Marsh with its own mechanics and enemies. A stronger Anomaly presence brings hallucinations, pushing the zone toward survival horror.
The Cradle
Stat upgrades moved out of the faction trees and into The Cradle. Players earn Cradle XP by dismantling gear they do not need, then choose which stats to raise on their Runner shell. Nightfall also shipped a weapon balance pass and more than 100 bug fixes.
The Vox Nocturna Rewards Pass
The season's cosmetics come in the Vox Nocturna Rewards Pass, a black-and-red set of Runner and weapon skins. Nodes are unlocked with SILK earned by levelling your Runner, in any order within a page. The premium track is cosmetic only and, like every Marathon pass, it never expires.
Before Nightfall Ends: What to Finish
Nightfall has two deadlines, not one. The October 6 Nightfall Refresh resets progression and the in-game economy for everyone, and Symbiosis later closes out the season itself.
Ranked progress
Bungie has said Ranked will not be available during the Nightfall Refresh. If you are chasing a rank this season, finish the climb before October 6. Ranked rewards are based on the highest rank reached and are claimed from the Codex; titles, weapon styles and shell styles stack, while only the emblem for your top rank is granted.
Your Vault and credits
Treat October 6 like a wipe. The refresh resets progression and the economy, so spending credits and using the gear in your Vault before then is the safe play. At the last full wipe, cosmetics, LUX and SILK carried over while Runner levels, faction upgrades, credits and Vault items did not; Bungie has not published an item-by-item list for the refresh.
The Rewards Pass
Nothing to rush here. The Vox Nocturna pass does not expire and can be bought and finished later, and the new NuCaloric Reward Pass arriving with the refresh is free for every owner and is not time-limited either.
