What's New in Ladder Season 15
Ladder Season 15 opened on August 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM PDT (00:00 UTC on August 22), a few days after Patch 3.3 rolled out on August 18. The patch changes more for item hunters than for any single class.
Runewords move, new ladder versions arrive
Eight runewords that were ladder-only, Mania, Hysteria, Metamorphosis, Ground, Temper, Hearth, Cure and Bulwark, are now available in non-ladder play. Season 15 ladder instead gets reworked versions of those same eight, with stronger effects that can only be made on ladder characters.
Unique and set item buffs
A batch of older items was brought up to date. Bloodletter gains 20% Faster Run/Walk; Blinkbat's Form goes from 10% to 30% Faster Run/Walk and adds mana after each kill; The Battlebranch drops to required level 17; Rogue's Bow gains +1 to 3 to Cold Arrow or Fire Arrow. The full Angelic Raiment set now grants +1 to All Skills, and Angelic Sickle and Mantle hit harder with three pieces worn.
Terror Zones, Heralds and Sunder Charms
Herald tiers 3 and above now have a better chance to drop Rare or better items. Sunder Charm hunting got stricter: the minimum level for Latent Sunder Charms rose from 69 to 75, and Magic Find drops of Latent Sunders were reduced and limited to Hell, while Herald drop rates were left alone. Herald farming is now the dependable route to Sunders.
Before Ladder Season 15 Ends: What to Finish
D2R has no battle pass and no reward track, so nothing is bought or claimed on a deadline. The reset is about the ladder itself.
- Make your ladder-only runewords now. The reworked Season 15 versions of the eight runewords can only be created on ladder characters. Once the season closes, you can keep any you made, but new ones cannot be made until a later ladder offers them.
- Expect your characters to move. At the reset, Season 15 characters and their stashes transfer to the non-ladder realm with their gear intact. Their items will then trade in a much larger, older economy.
- Use the fresh economy. Patch 3.3 made Herald tiers 3 and above the dependable source of Sunder Charms and better Rare drops, and those items are easiest to trade for upgrades while the ladder is young.
What Comes Next After Ladder Season 15
Ladder Season 16 has not been announced. Blizzard normally posts the next ladder's start date on its news site and in the D2R forums only a few weeks ahead, usually together with the end date of the current ladder and any balance patch that ships with it.
